Vivian Saunders joined Canterbury late in the inaugural season of 1935.
His first match was in third grade in the last game for the season.
Vivian was a hooker and was able to play first grade due to the injury to Bill Porter.
After missing the 1938 season, Vivian returned midway through 1939 and was captain of third grade for 1940 season.
