Robin Thorne joined Canterbury in 1988 as a winger.
Starting in reserve grade, Robin received the opportunity to play first grade against Canberra when Henry Raymond was injured.
Robin became a regular member of the first grade team for the next two seasons, playing in the Premiership winning team against Balmain.
After playing in first grade in 1989, Robin started the 1990 season late due to injury and was again injured before the end of the season.
In 1991, Robin joined Gold Coast to play 44 games from 1991 to 1994 before joining Western Reds in 1996 to play one more first grade game.
